Daniel Hannan, MEP, has his supporters. Stephen Lamley writes that because ‘so much of what goes on at Westminster is irrelevant to the real source of power, discerning people are dependent on Daniel Hannan to keep them informed of the doings and the culture of the European Union hierarchs’.

There continues to be significant support for David Davis with Simon Bower praising him as ‘a politician who was prepared to say what he thought and back it up with action that may have severely damaged his career’.

There are still ten days for you to make your nomination. All you have to do to put someone forward for the award is go to new.spectator.co.uk/parliamentarian and in no more than 250 words explain your choice. Terms and conditions can be found on the website. Closing date for entries is Monday 27 October, 5 p.m.
